This week, we honor the incredible veterinary technicians whose work is foundational to animal care. These professionals show up with skill, compassion, and care — through routine checkups, aging journeys, and tender goodbyes. Their presence brings comfort and dignity to both animal companions and their guardians, every single day.

Recently, I had the opportunity to tour PetVet365 in Plymouth, and I was truly amazed by the space and the team behind it. PetVet365 is a refreshing contrast to many veterinary clinics today that are owned by large corporations. In corporate-owned clinics, there can be pressure to meet financial quotas or production targets — an unfortunate reality of the industry.

Dr. Nathan Howlett, DVM, and veterinary technician Lauren Sorensen are two members of the wonderful team at PetVet365.

But at PetVet365, the focus is different. There are no quotas to hit. Their model is centered around one thing: providing compassionate, individualized care to animal companions and the people who love them.

Every aspect of their clinic has been thoughtfully designed for comfort and trust, including:

  • Cat-only and dog-only rooms to reduce stress

  • Comfy couches, toys, pheromone diffusers, and both low-value and high-value treats to help companions feel safe and relaxed

  • A TV in each room that can play calming music or shows to soothe your companion

  • A special low-stimulation room with a private entrance and frosted windows for companions with anxiety or fear

  • And most importantly: they welcome “happy visits” before any routine care, so you and your companion can build a positive association with the space and the team

What truly stood out to me is how deeply the team respects each companion as a unique being with feelings, preferences, and personal needs that matter.

To the veterinarians and veterinary technicians at PetVet365: thank you for the warm welcome, for the thoughtful design of your space, and for the care you extend to every species, every day.

And to everyone reading: this Veterinary Technician Week, please take a moment to thank the technicians and veterinarians who support your family’s companions. Their work is often emotionally complex and physically demanding, and yet, they show up every day with compassion and grace.

If you are looking for a veterinary team that truly leads with heart, I highly recommend reaching out to PetVet365 in Plymouth.
